A coalition advocating for openness in the UN Climate Change Conferences

Come and strategise with us at the 3rd OPEN GOES COP webinar

OPEN GOES COP is a coalition of organisations and individuals that aims to advocate for openness in the context of the UN Climate Change Conferences (COP). We aim to overcome the lack of discussion on the role of ‘openness’ as a necessary condition for addressing the climate crisis and to build the capacity of open movement activists and stakeholders from civil society and academia to influence high-level decisions on related issues.

The next OPEN GOES COP webinar (#3) will be a planning meeting rather than a structure of talks and sharing experiences. We want to consult and define together with the community that has been formed around the Coalition what our concrete goals are, what specific campaigns we want to undertake, what forums we want to influence and what roadmap we will follow in the coming months leading up to COP 29 in Baku (Azerbaijan) and with an eye to COP 30 in Belém (Brazil).

There will be a brief introduction to the COP processes, followed by a short summary of the work the Coalition has been doing since June 2024. Afterwards, different representatives of the participating organisations (Wiki Green Initiative, Open Knowledge Network, Open Climate Campaign and Open Data Charter) will facilitate conversations and collaborative workshops with participants to identify our path of action and common next steps.

The 3rd OPEN GOES COP webinar will be held in English. Future sessions in other languages are being planned.

If you’re working at the intersection of openness and climate change, please join us! It will only work if more people and organisations get involved.
